May 6, 2009: Rajasthan Royals defeated Kings XI Punjab by 78 runs in the IPL second season match played at Kingsmead in Durban on Tuesday.
Kings XI failed to chase the 211 runs target of Rajasthan Royals as the teams batting began on a bleak note.
Kings XI lost five wickets by the end of seven overs on the score of 39 runs.
Skipper Yuvraj Singh played good strokes and tried to stabilize team's crumbling batting lineup, but got out after scoring 48 runs off 37 balls.
The team's innings thus ended on 133/8.
Earlier, Royals scored mighty 211 runs at loss of four wickets after they were sent to bat first.
Opening pair of Naman Ojha and Graeme Smith made a partnership of 135 runs that helped team to get a good start.
Ojha scored 68 runs, whereas Smith made 77 of 44 balls.
Later, Ravindra Jadeja played skillful strokes and piled 33 runs of just 12 balls.
Smith was adjudged man of the match for his blazing innings.
