Moving of IPL out of India is shameful: Jaitley

New Delhi, March 22: BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley on Sunday lashed out at the ruling UPA govt. for its failure to provide security for the lucrative Indian Premier League cricket tournament.

Talking to media persons, Jaitley said that the govt. should be ashamed for failing to keep the lucrative tournament in the country.

“UPA should be ashamed that the IPL can’t be held in India”, said Jaitley.

“Moving the tournament out off India will not only have an adverse impact on the tourism sector but will also put a question mark on the country’s ability to hold major sporting events in future”, Jaitley went on to add.

Referring to recent events in Pakistan, the senior BJP leader also said that India can not be compared to its neighbour when talking of security.

“The IPL brand should not be diluted due to the incompetence off the UPA govt.”, Jailtley added.

Earlier, Congress spokesman Veerappa Moily had said that security consideration was the sole reason for shifting of the League.

"Absolutely no politics. It is a question of security arrangements which have to be made by each of the state governments. State to state, the governments may have their own perception. It has nothing to do with any political party," Moily said.
