HP to market handloom and handicraft products during IPL

Shimla (PTI): Himachal Pradesh government would explore possibilities to market its handloom and handicraft products during IPL cricket matches, which are proposed to be held at Dharamsala.

Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said the State would for the first time get an opportunity to hold a big event like the IPL matches, which could be rightly availed for marketing its handicraft and handloom products to the cricket lovers.

Mr. Dhumal, who was chairing a meeting of board of directors of the State Handicraft and Handlooms Corporation here, gave a direction to this effect to the management of the body, an official release said.

A large number of retail outlets of souvenirs and other gift items would be set up in and around the cricket stadium premises during the proposed mega event, he said. Four IPL matches are proposed at Himachal Pradesh cricket stadium at Dharamsala.

Mr. Dhumal said the State was making efforts to include its handloom and handicraft products into the list of souvenirs to be given to players and visitors during the forthcoming Commonwealth games at New Delhi.
