Airtel Digital TV eyes IPL, runs campaign

NEW DELHI: Direct-to-home (DTH) operators hope to cash in on the Indian Premier League frenzy to mop up subscribers. Airtel Digital TV, the DTH service of Bharti Airtel, has come out with an array of promotional campaigns which will run through the course of the second edition of IPL that kicks off on 10 April.

Subscribers who successfully complete the slogan 'I love Digital TV because...' will get to meet Airtel Digital TV's brand ambassador AR Rahman who recently scooped two Oscars - best original score and best soundtrack - for Slumdog Millionaire. The other brand escorts include Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, and cricketers Zaheer Khan and Gautam Gambhir.

That's not all. Airtel will dole out prizes like 60 Samsung 37-inch LCD TVs, 600 Samsung MP3 players, 1200 Nokia phones and 12000 cash back vouchers of Rs 250 each.

The promotional campaign will run till 31 May, 2009. The offer is open to new customers across the country except Tamil Nadu.

Says Bharti Airtel CEO –DTH Deepak Srivastava, “With this unique offer, we are giving our customers a never-before opportunity to bring home their favourite stars and thousands of other exciting prizes and to experience magical entertainment at home. ”

Airtel DTH service is currently available at Rs 1750.
