Mumbai, April 28 The 127-run partnership between Sachin Tendulkar (68 off 45) and Sanath Jayasuriya (52 off 32) led to prime time cricket viewership on SET Max jumping to 8.4 million with a TVR of 4.6 on Monday night.
With prime time matches getting more popular, day 10 of IPL-2 had its second match between Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians (with the Tendulkar and Jayasuriya partnership) breaking the previous viewership records. With a total of 187 runs, viewers were glued to the television to find out whether Knight Riders (with players like Sourav Ganguly and Chris Gayle) could match this score.
In the past week, aMap recorded the viewership peaks on Thursday night (April 23) when its second match between Rajasthan Royals and Knight Riders recorded TVR of 4.5 with 8.2 million viewers.
Another peak viewership level was recorded on April 20 during the match between Royal Challengers and Chennai Super kings achieving a TVR of 4.7 with 7.7 million viewers.
According to the analysis made by aMap, “As the eight squads battle it out for the DLF IPL Season 2 trophy, the true contest seems to be between prime time and non-prime time.
“A trend that we have been witnessing for the past few matches recurred on day 10 — the second match fared better than the first in terms of ratings and reach.”
The first match (Chennai Super Kings vs. Deccan Chargers) delivered lower ratings (Top six metros, C&S 15+), 2.3 per cent, than the first match played on day 10 last year, 2.8 per cent, whereas net reach (Top 6 metros, C&S 4+) remained approximately the same at 10 per cent.
The prime and non-prime rift widened as Tendulkar and Jayasuriya led the Mumbai Indians to victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the second match; ratings (Top 6 metros, C&S 15+) jumped to 4.6 per cent from 3.1 per cent last year.
